it's raining buckets here in New York City today, and the wind is so strong the umbrellas are trembling when asked to stay open. Some have given their hearts out to the nobler cause of keeping their owners dry, and you can see their skeletons folded into the NYDOS trash cans.
I've been hibernating like a bear. Eating too many snacks. Watching too much tv. (Football, ice skating, PBS miniseries - Emma, among others.) Reading (Cleopatra's Daughter at the moment). Painting classes (with Misty Mawn). Lots of movies at the theater (I saw Colin Firth's "A Single Man" TWICE, among many others.) If I were pregnant I'd blame it on nesting, but I'm well past that stage of my life.
I don't want the pressure of things left undone in my home right now, weighing upon me, and though I'm not sure why I suspect it is part of my need for Less is More this year.
My laptop hinge cracked over the weekend and I'm currently using the one we keep at home for emergencies while my baby is hanging out with the Geniuses at the Apple Store. I keep all my info on there: iCal, iTunes, iPhoto, bookmarks, files and folders and well, I guess you could say my computer and I have become inseparable.
That's kind of worrisome. But I can't help it.
I went to the Post Office this morning to mail all the buttons out for our Soul Journaling button swap and kept thinking, "Button Up Your Overcoat" due to the rain. GLAD that is finished and the buttons are on their way to the swap participants. I also walked to Lee's Art Shop (on 57th near 7th Ave.) to get more soft matte gel medium, and while I was there I got some small tubes of acrylic paints in pastel shades and the tiniest little detail paintbrush -- even tinier than the one I currently have. I'm very happy about all of that. On the way home I stopped at Dagastinos for groceries. Do you have one of those where you live? I got organic Fuji apples, blueberries, pineapple, and cherries. YUM.
Can't wait to play with my paints!

Apart from the rain, that sounds like a pretty good day! It rains in Wales all the time, but not today, so maybe it's visiting you instead - sorry! :)
Hope you had fun with the paints!
Before I logged on, I was thinking of you. I was going to send you a mail via COL and say Hey Teri, wassup! But, now I know. Thanks for the update. I have been trying to get things done around the house pre-Spring spring cleaning you might say. There is always too much to do.
I stayed home on Sunday and just read my book and did some scrapbooking.
I miss living in Philly. We always had so many good stores with good foood! D'Agostino's...wish one was near me.
Finally, I played Ms. Carpenter's song this morning after my husband told me his umbrella died on the way to work.
But, I love Rainy Days...not so fond of Monday though.
Am I ever glad to hear that I'm not the only one that's been perfectly content to snuggle in at home. I did get all of my laundry and ironing done but not much more! The paints remind me that my middle one needs to get to the art supply store for a painting he's been commissioned to do. This girl had him do a portrait sketch for her this fall and now wants a large canvas of what we call "Max's style" of art. Can't wait to see what he turns out!
Oh Teri, I feel like hibernating as well. I'm so sick of the cold greyness of January. I haven't seen the sun in so long. The rain turned to snow today and artic blasts predicted the next few days. I just want to stay under the covers!!
Playing with paints is always a good thing. Buying NEW paints is even better and brushes..........oh I do like to look at them. I'm so hard on brushes. :)Bea
No D'Agostino's here but we do have Whole Foods Market which sounds about the same. I love it! We also have Sprout's which has fresh fruit & veggies and also organically grown produce.
It's been raining a lot here in AZ too which has actually been a welcome change! Except for the flooding and even had a tornado warning...very weird weather!
I love your "Less is More" for the year! I'm kind of feeling the same way! Almost to the point of getting rid of some books..oh my gosh! :)
We use Apple's at work and I now have an Apple laptop and just love it. I know just what you mean about becoming inseparable!
Hope you have a great week! Your blog always makes me smile!
your day sounds wonderful!!! what i much would have rather been doing!
i hope you get your laptop back soon. :)
