I completely appropriated this art journaling blog post from my friend Kathryn Antyr's blog. Kathryn wrote about "Things I Say" and listed expressions she frequently uses. Here are some of mine: Go to her blog (link above) to see what Kathryn says. Below are some things I say:
What you do actually does define you.
Awesome. Really.
Sometimes no action IS an action.
Oh. My. God.

Dude.
And here is some Brooklyn graffiti with something someone else had to say:

This is a great idea and very thought provoking. Love that graffiti too. penny
I say, "Seriously" quite a lot. A lot of things like Awesome, Good Job, etc. to the kids at school.
I say to my children, "Dude, not a dude. I am your mother."
They have been getting out of the habit.
I work around a lot of African American children, I say "off the chain," which means misbehavin'
I caught myself saying that and laughed b/c it is funny how people's slang sneak into your vocabulary.
Interesting to think of things that we say often. I say "Aye Chihuahua" and lately George and I have been saying "Well for heaven)s sake" (in a tone like your mother might have used if she said it to you) and the word "gagutz"=don't think that's spelled right, but it means cabbage head and we have lots of made up words that we use all the time.
I say dude all the time as well, especially to certain friends. I find I have certain phrases I say more around certain people and that I pick up on their phrases quite often!
Also, I wanted to say thank you for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment!
Peace,
Karis
Good idea...I'm still ruminating over what my childhood memories are from your last post, tho. (Reading Secret Garden while sitting on our backyard swingset stands out.) I hear myself saying "I'm tellin' ya" a lot...I worked with a lady decades ago who said that and it must have stuck. xoxo
Oh The Secret Garden -- what a lovely thought. It was an enchanted world, wasn't it? And just being young, carefree and on a swing? that's a winner right there.
It turns out I say "that's all" quite a lot. I didn't realize it until Beau started ending most of his sentences with "that's all." Wondering where he picked it up, I started paying attention to how I formed my sentences and realized I was the original "that's all" person. Funny the things we learn about ourselves from others.
5o true!
I say "seriously?" all the time. And "oh man"....the grandbaby has picked up both. "Oh Man" was probably one of her first phrases.
I love this!! I say:
Seriously??
Oh. MY. God.
That's so cool
I love that!!
BE in your life.
Whatever.....
You didn't list my favorite saying of yours, Teri!
"Don't feed the dragon and it will go away."
:D
