Summer Olympics. Cannot wait. Opening ceremonies? Ho hum. I always watch and I'm always bored. Hoping this year is better. Maybe a little wardrobe malfunction will break the monotony of the nationalistic, self-obsessed performances of the past. (Tell us how you really feel, Ter.) Please -- no stilts, trapeze artists or cirque de soleil wannabes!
Best thing I've eaten this week: Pot Roast. Here's the recipe I shared with my daughter: mix 1 pkg brown gravy mix, 1 pkg onion soup mix, 2 cups water, 1 small container apple sauce. Brown the beef, then simmer 3 hours or until tender. Add carrots and potatoes last 30 mins. You will love it. Guaranteed. (You can crock pot it, too.)

Like smocking? My friend Shirley has an amazing machine that does all the pleating gathers for you. She gave me a fabulous tutorial yesterday on using the machine and how to do various smocking stitches. Loving it.

I was amazed that the ugly "underwhelming" apron made it through, but the umbrella outfit was worse!!

I thought the opening ceremonies were ambitious, sometimes wonderful, but ultimately too long and yes, a bit boring.

I bet you liked the Olympic ceremony... I didn't watch myself but parts of it (mr. Bean, the Queen on a parachute) made the news even in the Netherlands and it made me smile... it was quite 'British' and humourfull!
